Watch this lovely video of Jasper, Max's best friend for five years, before he (Max) had to leave us for a happier place.
Jasper came with us when we took Max to the Veterinarian for his final visit,; he seemed calm, and almost, respectful, of what was happening. Sort of an Empathetic reaction to the situation. Read more about this day with Jasper here.
All about Jasper, huh? Where to begin?
At the beginning I guess.
Jasper arrived in our family because I had too much time to think while on a business trip driving through Alberta. I was driving from Calgary to Edmonton in foul weather, on slippery roads, thinking about whether my dog Max would like a companion. After my white knuckled drive into Edmonton I settled for the night and surfed the Internet for a local breeder of Bichon Shih Tzu cross puppies.
It didn't take long and I found a reputable breeder in Calgary, and we quickly arranged to meet in Red Deer to look at options.
The breeder arrived with three little puppies for me to choose from. They were all Black and White and beautiful. Right away, Jasper stood out to me as the most alert and inquisitive of the three, and he was one of two males. Right away, I could see his budding personality, and I liked what I saw in him.
We conducted our business and I packed "Jasper" into a box the breeder provided for me, to prepare for the trip home to Kelowna.
Now let's face it, the trip from Red Deer to Kelowna takes about 8 hours by car in the winter, so we settled in for a long drive.
You can read more about Jasper in the blog posts here.
One thing I would like to mention is: Jasper does not like to ride in the car to this day. He seems to have been affected by his trip home as a puppy. More about that in my blog here.
